Trauma, Tim & EFT

Trauma has become a big topic these days and for good reason, we’re all likely to experience some type of trauma during the course of our lives. I’ve been working as a Psychotherapist for over a decade and hold the highest qualification attainable in my field. Over time, I recognised that something else was needed within my practice to help my clients more gently work through and process their traumas effectively. Emotional Freedom Technique is an evidence based therapeutic process that has taken the world by storm in recent years, although it’s been around since the 1970’s. If you want to learn more about the history, feel free to click here https://eftinternational.org/discover-eft-tapping/what-is-eft-tapping/

You may be surprised to hear that processing a trauma is more about gently releasing the feelings associated with it, rather than telling the story itself and as such, parts you may have felt ashamed to disclose need not be spoken at all, unless you actually wanted to, which is of course perfectly acceptable too.

I work mostly with clients who’ve had counselling or psychotherapy before, as my process is for people who feel ready to release trauma. It is much quicker than conventional counselling, often only taking 6 to 12 sessions ranging from 50 - 90 minutes, dependent of course on the level of trauma. But it could be even quicker than that. I’m deeply passionate about trauma and have committed by professional life to the endeavour of freeing people from theirs. Emotional Freedom Technique is expected to and can leave you feeling profoundly different within your being. If you’d like to learn more I offer a free 30 minute initial consultation online.

Emotional
Trauma is a strange thing, when it happens to us, our bodies seem to go into shock and automatically allow our defence mechanisms to kick in. This is often a useful thing at the time but unfortunately, if left unattended, this leaves the emotions that weren’t experienced or expressed at the time locked away in our bodies, often resulting in us feeling stuck in our fight or flight mechanism for years or even decades. In some instances, you could end up feeling anxious almost all of the time finding yourself re-triggered emotionally by the most simple experiences in life.

Freedom

EFT, can gently unlock and release those stuck emotions like guilt, hurt, fear or anger relating to those past traumas, resulting in a profoundly different physically lived experience of life. People regularly report no longer feeling the constant anxiety that they’d had before they did EFT (tapping).

Technique
The process involves you tapping with fingertips on acupuncture points on your hands, face and upper body while giving focused attention to past traumatic memories and feelings. When we are willing to face difficult emotions while tapping instead of trying to fight them or push them away, we can experience surprising and life changing, profound relief. People often report feeling lighter, calmer and able to focus more easily on the joys of life.

Fears, Phobias & Addictions, they often originate from Trauma.
